Why kids are afraid of dentists?

Dental anxiety can be found in every five to twenty percent of Children’s population.
There can be several reasons. Authors reported that lot of anxiety could be traced back to parents attitude towards dentistry, Oral care, children general understanding towards dentistry. Many children are scared of metal objects. Even as adults, we own most of our fears to our experiences, especially the one we had in childhood.

Pain Apprehension :
Anticipation of pain stems from a common premise of anxiety that develops in children when their expression is dismissed. This extends to the gate theory of pain which explains that our brain deliberately looks for pain receptors in the body to protect them from sudden impact. Children catch on this as a result they are scared of visit.
Invasion of privacy : It’s no secret that dentistry is intrusive for example extraction, filling , x rays. The special dominance of aversion to touch in has proven to be one of the devisive factors. Children take their personal space seriously.
Loss of control :
Loss of control is also associated with fear of dentist. Children taking commands from a stranger can be more daunting from usual.
